September Newsletter 2020

Saturday, September 26:  there will be a Roast Beef Dinner from 5-6:30 p.m. The cost is $10.00 per ticket by advance ticket only (available at the Club Room bar).

Our last BBQ of the season will be on Friday, September 25.  Be there or be square! Thanks very much to all who worked on the barbecues this season. Your efforts are appreciated.

FROM THE SEPTEMBER MINUTES

Chairman of the Poppy Committee Cde Rev. L. Oracheski reported that Poppies will be distributed starting October 30 and continuing until November 10. On October 30 volunteers will be needed to get the poppies ready; distribution volunteers will also be needed to deliver poppies to their venues.

In addition, there is a need for volunteers to judge the Remembrance Day Essay, Poem, and Posters Contests from the 3 schools in our area. There is information on what the judges should be looking for.

President Cde. Tim Williams reported that Friday night Meat Draw and BBQ are going well. Chase The Queen on Wednesday is getting approximately 20-30 people out. He has spoken with Cde. A. Ammeter to see if the seniors were interested in starting up their senior program again. He called about the ATM and is waiting for a call back; will check into darts, pool, and crib with authorities to see if we can get them up and going. Thank you to the volunteers for the Chicken Dinner on the last Saturday of the month. Thanks to Bob, Kerri, Brenda O., Brenda S., Alice, Shaylene, Ken, and Terry.

The last Saturday of the month dinner has been going well so we will continue with it again in September.

April Newsletter 2020

APRIL NEWSLETTER 2020

Royal Canadian Legion Br. #52   Contact our Branch at 204-467-2261 or rcl52@shaw.ca

The information I received on March 27, 2020 was:

Sorry we are closed as of last Thursday by provincial command.
We will let you know when we reopen.

At this time, all of our projected activities have been cancelled or postponed. When we have new information, we will post it in a Newsletter here, and on our website.
   Happy Easter!

Please be advised that the VE Day ceremony and reception planned for May 7th at the Manitoba Legislature and the Candlelight Service planned for May 8th at Brookside Cemetery have been cancelled.

Stay safe everyone. Stay home if you possibly can. If you absolutely must go out, maintain social distancing of at least 2 meters (6 feet) between you and any other person. On TV on April 07, Dr. Tam recommended that if you MUST go out and you MIGHT have been exposed to COVID19, please wear a mask – even a homemade one or a bandana. This will NOT protect you (according to the doctor) but it MIGHT help protect others that you inadvertently come into contact with. Continue to practice social distancing. Continue to stay home as much as possible.

Meanwhile, keep your stick on the ice; we’re all pullin’ for ya. Remember, we’re all in this together!
